1 (15 oz.) can tomato puree
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder

Pre−mix the dry ingredients, mix, and set aside. Combine with tomato sauce and mix well. Makes 2 cups of sauce, enough for 2-3 12” pizzas. Freezes well.

This sauce is simple to make and is our favorite. It's posted on several websites including the Pizzamaking forum, as copy cat recipe for the Little Caesars pizza sauce (with my adaption, removing the msg that is usually added). You can premix the spice blend to have on hand or make a single batch.

I don’t eat a lot of canned tomato products, but for this recipe along with other tomato puree recipes, I use Muir Glen Organic products.

this looks right.. but there is something missing.. there are seeds, or something in the sauce. any ideas?

Fennel seeds are a common topping on pizzas so you can try adding a small amount to the sauce but we personally like the sauce exactly as the recipe is listed. You can make the sauce as listed, then pull a small amount aside and sample with the fennel and see if this is the taste you are after. Hope this helps. Emily

I'm vegetarian so I totally understand that changing your diet can help you feel so much better. Good for you! But one thing: "This lifestyle has helped my husband and I feel better than we have in years."

Should be "my husband and me..."

Great catch, thank you!

I say husband and I all the time. I think it sounds better. btw, sauce sounds great. I have been using easier uncooked sauce recipes and have been pleased. Much easier!
